Myofascial Release
What is Myofascial Release?
The Myofascial Release Approach developed by John F. Barnes, PT has been helping millions of people return to pain-free, active lifestyles. By working with the fascia, the connective tissue of the body, MFR is able to unlock the holding patterns that cause chronic pain, and restore function, flexibility, and strength.
Fascial restrictions are responsible for many common symptoms, such as headaches, PMS, an ache that never quite healed after an accident, digestive problems, jaw problems; and such restrictions don't show up on the standard tests used by medical doctors. In fact, Western medicine has completely ignored the fascial system, in spite of the fact that fascia surrounds and penetrates every cell of the body.
Fascia is a three-dimensional network of tissue that connects everything in your body to everything else in your body, and when restricted it can apply up to 2000 pounds of pressure per square inch, crushing blood vessels, muscle tissue, intestines, your brain, jamming joint surfaces together, and basically causing a lot of pain. These restrictions can build up over time, every time we fall or even just step off a curb wrong, and often go unnoticed until we have a major accident or finally overload the system.
The Western medical approach is to give us painkillers and tell us to live with our symptoms, but we can heal. Our bodies are capable of incredible healing if we only give them a chance. The MFR Approach works with your body's natural healing process to release the trauma that has been stored in your tissues, helping you get out of pain and feel better than you ever have before.
